In this 90-minute webinar, we will review the 2018 updates to the American Diabetes Association's Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes from the perspective of diabetes education. This document, "Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes," is a key resource for all healthcare professionals involved in diabetes care, education, and support.
Presented by Melinda Maryniuk, MEd, RD, CDE and Joshua J. Neumiller, PharmD, CDE, FASCP - members of the 2017 ADA Professional Practice Committee involved in the process of updating the current Standards of Medical Care.
Learners will be able to recognize, articulate and apply recommendations from the 2018 ADA Standards of Medical Care.
This is a knowledge-based learning activity. This 90-minute online session includes a presentation followed by a question and answer period.
At the end of this presentation, participants will
be able to:
-- Review changes and updates to the 2018 ADA Standards of Medical Care.
-- Identify where changes in recommendations and/or evidence rating scores have been made in 2018.
-- Discuss application of these changes for diabetes educators.
The AADE Webinars are knowledge-based
activities designed for individual or groups of diabetes educators, including
RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists,
Physician Assistants, MDs, and other health care providers interested in staying
up to date on current practices of care for their patients with diabetes and
other related conditions.

nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on
Accreditation. This program provides 1.5 contact hours
of continuing education credit.
The AADE is also accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CEP
Association of Diabetes Educators (AM001) is a Continuing Professional

Certified Diabetes Educators
To satisfy the requirements for renewal of certification for the National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE), continuing education activities must be diabetes related and approved by a provider on the NCBDE list of Approved Providers (www.ncbde.org). NCBDE does not approve continuing education. The American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) is on the NCBDE list of Approved Providers.
Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM)
AADE is the administering body for the Advanced Diabetes Management credentials. Continuing education programs offered by AADE can be used toward fulfilling BC-ADM Certification and recertification requirements.
