Building your Diabetes Education Program “Everything you need to know and more”

Diabetes self-management education (DSME) is essential for the care of all people with diabetes and is necessary to prevent or delay the complications of diabetes. The National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support are designed to define quality DSME and to assist diabetes educators in providing evidence-based education and self-management support. To develop or operate a DSME program you need to understand more than the standards. This program is designed to provide education on the National Standards and other key components of DSME that many programs struggle with. Do you ever wonder what each of the standards mean, what documentation needs to be in the chart, how to write and follow-up on behavioral goals or develop a CQI plan, what exactly self-management support is or how do you get paid? If you have asked yourself any of those questions this five hour course will give you inside information and help you have an understanding of what it takes to put a program together and help your patients succeed.
