Please Note: All times are Eastern. Our 90-minute webinars
begin at 1:00 pm Eastern / 12:00 noon Central / 11:00 am Mountain / 10:00 am
This program will discuss recent changes in national guidelines for care of patients with type 2 diabetes and review the new treatment algorithm recommended in the American Diabetes Association’s 2019 Standards of Care. It will provide a review of each of the blood glucose lowering agents’ mechanism of action, efficacy, and place in therapy and help diabetes educators design a treatment plan to improve blood glucose control and lower A1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes educators will be able to make medication recommendations based on patient-specific factors and will be able to educate patients on each of their anti-hyperglycemic medications and what to expect.
This is an application-based learning activity. This 90-minute online session includes a presentation followed by a question and answer period.
At the end of this presentation, participants will
be able to:
-- Describe changes to recent national guidelines for care of patients with type 2 diabetes
-- Analyze the mechanism of action, efficacy, and place in therapy for each of the blood glucose lowering agents
-- Design a treatment plan to improve blood glucose control and lower A1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes
