Please Note: All times are Eastern. Our 90-minute webinars
begin at 1:00 pm Eastern / 12:00 noon Central / 11:00 am Mountain / 10:00 am
Keep up with the latest guidelines for the use of medication in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. We will cover how the different blood glucose lowering agents work, and how they can fit into patients' therapy to achieve better control of their diabetes. Case studies will be reviewed, so that diabetes educators will be able to select a medication for their patient based off patient specific characteristics and medication efficacy and side effect profile.
Learners will be able to make medication recommendations based on patient-specific factors and will be able to educate patients on each of their antidiabetic medications and what to expect.
This is an application-based learning activity. This 90-minute online session includes a presentation followed by a question and answer period.
At the end of this presentation, participants will
be able to:
-- Describe changes to recent national guidelines for care of patients with type 2 diabetes
-- Analyze the mechanism of action, efficacy, and place in therapy for each of the blood glucose lowering agents
-- Design a treatment plan to improve blood glucose control and lower A1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes
