Program Overview
From concentrated insulin to inhaled insulin, we'll take a look at how newer insulin options fit in to the diabetes treatment picture.
Program Purpose
This activity provides diabetes educators with increased knowledge of recent developments in the use of insulin for people with diabetes.
Activity Type: This is a knowledge-based learning activity. This 90-minute online session includes a presentation followed by a question and answer period.
Learning ObjectivesAt the end of this presentation, participants will
be able to:
- Review the role of insulin in the management of diabetes according to national guidelines.
- Describe similarities/differences of recently approved and established insulin therapies.
- Identify an appropriate insulin regimen to achieve patient-specific goals of therapy.
Intended AudienceThe AADE Webinars are knowledge-based
activities designed for individual or groups of diabetes educators, including
RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists,
Physician Assistants, MDs, and other health care providers interested in staying
up to date on current practices of care for their patients with diabetes and
other related conditions.

Registered Nurses
The American
Association of Diabetes Educators is accredited as a provider of continuing
nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on
Accreditation.
This educational program will provide 1.5 contact hours
of continuing education credit.
AADE is accredited as a provider of
continuing nursing education by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CEP
# 10977).
AADE is an Iowa Board of Nursing approved provider #366. This
program provides 0.18 CEUs (1 contact hour = 50 minutes, or 0.1 CEUs).

Association of Diabetes Educators, (AM001) is a Continuing Professional
Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
(CDR). Registered dietitians (RDs) and dietetic technicians, registered (DTRs)
will receive 1.5 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) for completion
