Learn the emerging new evidence and guidelines to support gestational diabetes (GDM) treatment and prevention. This 90-minute webinar gives diabetes educators a better understanding of the diagnosis and management of GDM.
Diabetes educators who attend this session will be better prepared to use the latest guidelines for gestational diabetes. The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to provide self-management education to women at risk for and diagnosed with GDM.
This is a knowledge-based learning activity. This 90-minute online session includes a presentation followed by a question and answer period.
Learning ObjectivesAt the end of this presentation, participants will
be able to:
- Define current criteria for the screening and diagnosis of GDM
- List three maternal and three neonatal complications associated with a pregnancy complicated by GDM
- Discuss current management guidelines for the treatment of GDM
Intended AudienceThe AADE Webinars are knowledge-based
activities designed for individual or groups of diabetes educators, including
RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists,
Physician Assistants, MDs, and other health care providers interested in staying
up to date on current practices of care for their patients with diabetes and
other related conditions.

Dr. Carol Homko is a nurse and Certified Diabetes Educator with more than 35 years experience in the management and education of patients with diabetes. Her areas of research include diabetes and pregnancy, telemedicine, insulin resistance and gastroparesis. She has published more than 75 papers in peer reviewed journals and has been the author of multiple book chapters.
