Program Overview
Where can low-calorie sweeteners fit into a healthy diabetes nutrition plan? In this 90-minute webinar, we will review current approved products, trends, and uses of low-calorie sweeteners. Help individuals with diabetes learn the potential benefits and impact of including these sweeteners in their everyday nutrition plans.
Program Purpose
The purpose of this activity is to enable diabetes educators to gain relevant knowledge of the various low-calorie sweeteners and to have the ability to assist individuals with diabetes fit them into their daily diabetes self-management.
Activity Type: This is a knowledge-based learning activity. This 90-minute online session includes a presentation followed by a question and answer period.
Learning ObjectivesAt the end of this presentation, participants will
be able to:
- Identify current categories of sweeteners, including naturally occurring and low-calorie sweeteners, for use by individuals with diabetes.
- Recognize common uses and sweetness levels of low-calorie sweeteners in foods/beverages as applies to daily use by people with diabetes.
- Translate possible benefits, impact and fit of including low-calories sweeteners into a healthy diabetes nutrition plan.
Intended AudienceThe AADE Webinars are knowledge-based
activities designed for individual or groups of diabetes educators, including
RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists,
Physician Assistants, MDs, and other health care providers interested in staying
up to date on current practices of care for their patients with diabetes and
other related conditions.

Registered Nurses
The American
Association of Diabetes Educators is accredited as a provider of continuing
nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on
Accreditation.
This educational program will provide 1.5 contact hours
