Automated insulin devices (AID) are becoming more prevalent in the treatment of adults and children with diabetes who require insulin. There are some common challenges in the use of this technology that could lead to significant psychosocial impacts if not mitigated. This webinar will use a case study approach and review published research on the psychosocial considerations for users of this technology.
Learners will be able to outline how to match a particular AID system to a person with diabetes based on practical and psychosocial aspects and be able to help mitigate any challenges to use of this technology.
At the end of this presentation,
participants will be able to:
- Describe the current automated insulin devices on the market today.
- Summarize the automated insulin delivery (AID) clinical trials published for pediatrics and adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
- Identify common concerns and issues people with diabetes may face using diabetes devices.
- Review suggested plans of action to help the PWD navigate choosing an AID.
