Monitoring: From Measuring to Mastering Management – Level 2

Diabetes is a disease of vigilant monitoring and ongoing daily decisions based on the cascade of numbers that ensue.  Besides glucose results there are blood pressure readings, lipid profiles, insulin doses, weight, exercise duration, and carbohydrates consumed.  Monitoring is one of the seven AADE Self Care Behaviors and is an integral topic in the National Diabetes Standards Core Curriculum.

Level 2 of Monitoring: From Measuring to Mastering Management is the second of three self-paced, online continuing education courses that focus on glucose monitoring. 

This course is accredited for continuing education credits for nurses, pharmacists, and registered dietitians. This course consists of detailed multimedia lecture, case studies, and additional resources to enhance your learning. There is a final exam at the end of the course, with a mandatory passing rate of 70% for you to receive CE credit.

Target Audience

This course is recommended for Entry Level Clinicians, such as non-diabetes educator nurses, dietitians, and pharmacists. Medical Assistants may also take this program, though continuing education credit for MAs is not currently available.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this level, participants should be able to:

• Identify strategies for breaking through common barriers to effective SMBG
• List top SMBG learning needs identified by individuals with type 2 diabetes
• Develop purposeful monitoring schedules based on therapy type, level of glycemic control, and individuals needs and interests so individuals know WHEN to monitor
• Define the complementary role of SMBG and A1C as assessment tools in diabetes care and management

The American Association of Diabetes Educators is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This educational program will provide 2.0 contact hours of continuing education credit.

AADE is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CEP # 10977). 

Registered Dietitians

The American Association of Diabetes Educators, (AM001) is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Registered dietitians (RDs) and dietetic technicians, registered (DTRs) will receive 2.0 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) for completion of this program. Continuing Professional Education Provider Accreditation does not constitute endorsement by CDR of a provider, program, or materials.

CE Credit Information

To receive a Statement of Credit, you must review the full content of the program and complete the course evaluation. Upon successful completion of the entire course and the post-test, learners will receive 2.0 hours of continuing education credit and a Statement of Credit. Statements of Credit will be issued electronically following completion of the course and exam.

Course Availability

Learners will have 6 months to complete the entire course once registered, or until the course closes on 6/10/19, whichever comes first. (Note, sponsored complimentary registrations remain open through 12/31/18.)

You may select just the level(s) you wish to complete. You will receive CE credit for each level you complete.

If I register for all three levels, do I need to take them order?
No, you may complete the levels in any order you wish. However, many find it helpful to complete them in order.
