90-minute Program
Effective
dates for CE credit: 9/02/2020
– 9/02/2022
Description
The prevalence of obesity has increased significantly over the past three decades, exceeding 20% in all four regions of the United States. Obesity is often associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus but can be common among persons with type 1 diabetes. All individuals with type 1 diabetes should be educated on healthy eating, being active, and taking medications to improve glycemic management, but also encourage weight loss. This webinar will focus on successful weight loss through lifestyle modifications, along with role of pharmacologic therapy among people with type 1 diabetes.
Learning Outcome
Eighty-five percent of participants will demonstrate, through polling and case study analysis, their ability to construct treatment plans with non-pharmacological and pharmacological interventions for people with type 1 diabetes.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this presentation,
participants will be able to:
--Interpret changes in epidemiology for obesity in the United States
--Summarize current evidence-based recommendations for non-pharmacological recommendations in the treatment of obesity
--State the clinical evidence for use of antiobesity agents and antidiabetic agonists to treat persons with type 1 diabetes
--Build a treatment plan for a person with obesity and type 1 diabetes mellitus
Activity Type:
