The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to better meet the educational and counseling needs of patients receiving treatment for
type 2 diabetes with comorbid obesity.

Learning Objectives

• Compare and contrast the effects of commonly prescribed therapies on body weight.
• Describe incretin biology and pathophysiology in type 2 diabetes.
• Describe the risks and benefits of incretin-based medication use in persons with type 2 diabetes and comorbid obesity or overweight.
• Compare the efficacy and side effects of available weight loss medications for the treatment of comorbid obesity in persons with type 2 diabetes.

Intended Audience
The AADE Webinars are knowledge-based activities designed for individual or groups of diabetes educators, including RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physician Assistants, MDs, and other health care providers interested in staying up to date on current practices of care for their patients with diabetes and other related conditions.

Continuing Education Credit
This 90-minute webinar is eligible for 1.5 CE credits. To successfully complete the program to earn CE credit, learners must view the recorded session in its entirety, complete the post-learning assessment, and submit an evaluation survey. A continuing education statement of credit will be provided online.

Accreditation Information

Registered Nurses

The American Association of Diabetes Educators is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

This educational program will provide 1.5 contact hours of continuing education credit.

AADE is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CEP # 10977).

AADE is an Iowa Board of Nursing approved provider #366. This program provides 0.18 CEUs (1 contact hour = 50 minutes, or 0.1 CEUs).

Registered Dietitians

The American Association of Diabetes Educators, (AM001) is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Registered dietitians (RDs) and dietetic technicians, registered (DTRs) will receive 1.5 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) for completion of this program. Continuing Professional Education Provider Accreditation does not constitute endorsement by CDR of a provider, program, or materials.

Registered Pharmacists

The American Association of Diabetes Educators is accredited bythe Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuingpharmacy education.  This programprovides 1.50 contact hours (0.150 CEU’s) of continuing education credit.
