Learning Objectives At the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the challenges & opportunities for DSME programs and educators.
- Define DSMES & the roles of the diabetes educator & diabetes paraprofessionals.
- Describe the specific issues in each of 10 titles/sections of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the impact on delivery of DSME or role in the delivery.
Intended Audience This knowledge-based activity is designed for individual diabetes educators, including RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physician Assistants, MDs, and other health care providers interested in staying up to date on current practices of care for their patients with diabetes and other related conditions.
